A 10-year hospitality veteran, Austin began her career as a catering and conference services coordinator at Arizona Grand Resort in Phoenix, where she was promoted to executive meetings manager, sales manager and then national sales manager. She then held the title of senior sales manager at FireSky Resort & Spa in Scottsdale and Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix before joining Hilton Cleveland Downtown as assistant director of sales. Austin holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Northern Arizona University.
