Crowne Plaza Dubai is delighted to announce the appointment of Roden Macasaquit as Junior Sous Chef for its authentic Japanese restaurant, Sakura.Chef Roden joins Sakura with over 20 years' experience gained across Asia, the Middle East and Europe. He began his culinary journey in Saudi Arabia before moving to Dubai in 2008 where he held the position of Demi Chef at a Japanese restaurant in Downtown. After three years of excelling in his role, Chef Roden mo ved to Cyprus and later returned to Dubai in 2016, joining Roda Al Bustan Hotel, as Chef De Partie.In his new role, Chef Roden will head up the well-recognized culinary team of Sakura, driving high standards of food quality and guest experience.

Jason Harding has been appointed as Managing Director at Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Wild Wadi Waterpark

Originally from the UK, Jason's journey began in 1991, when he joined the London Hilton Park Lane. His career has included General Management roles across the Rocco Forte Hotels. In 2010 Jason relocated to Dubai and worked as General Manager and Regional General Manager at The Palace - Old Town and Armani Hotels and Resorts with responsibility for their Dubai and Milan properties. Jason then took on Area Director and Complex General Manager roles at Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces and Marriott International.Jason has extensive managerial experience which includes handling overall hotel operations, strategic direction and overseeing multi-million pound renovations. He has an impressive record of growing profitability, improving guest satisfaction, increasing staff retention and delivering increased revenues.

Mahmoud Sakr has been appointed as Managing Director at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Hotel and Royal Residences

Mahmoud brings over 30 years' experience and joins from Jumeirah Emirates Towers where he was General Manager and Area General Manager - City Hotels.Originally from Egypt, Mahmoud is passionate about providing a personalised guest experience at this award-winning resort on Palm Jumeirah. As one of Jumeirah's most experienced business leaders, he has played a pivotal role in the company's journey over the last 20 years. He is a seasoned hotelier and his dedication to his employees and guests alike sets a great example and is highly commendable. Mahmoud's strong market knowledge and excellent operational knowledge makes him well placed to take on the challenge of managing Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. Prior to joining Jumeirah Group, Mahmoud worked for Le Méridien for 13 years across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Senegal.

Dominic Arel has been appointed as General Manager at Swissôtel Al Ghurair

Accor has appointed Dominic Arel as general manager of Swissôtel Al Ghurair and Swissôtel Living Al Ghurair. Arel will lead the strategic direction and operations of the Swissôtel Al Ghurair complex. An experienced hotelier, Arel has a proven track record of leading international luxury hotels in the GCC, Europe and Americas. Arel started his career with Accor in 1996 where he worked in the front office operation and revenue department at Novotel Montréal. He played an instrumental role as director of revenue management in the successful opening of Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile in 2002, which was the first Sofitel to open in Montreal and in Canada. He was then promoted to director of operations in a span of four years followed by the position of a hotel manager. In 2011, Arel moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as hotel manager for Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach and managed the property for two consecutive years. He then moved to Portugal in 2013, where he was the general manager at Sofitel Lisbon for three years before returning to the Middle East. Arel is a graduate from the Institut de Tourisme et d'Hôtellerie du Québec in Hotel Management and from the University of Montréal (HEC), Canada. He also completed the International Hospitality Management Program at the Accor Academy in Paris, in partnership with ESSEC School in France.

Ajaj has more 15 years' experience in hospitality and tourism, having held leadership positions in Jordan and the UAE. He started his career in Amman, working for Hyatt and Amman West and moved to Dubai in 2006, joining Dusit Thani, Park Regis afterwards and Fraiser Suites, as his most recent assignment. In his new role, Ajaj will be responsible of handling the GCC market and government segment.

Bernard Fantoli has been appointed as General Manager at TIME Grand Plaza Hotel in Dubai

In his new role at TIME Grand Plaza Hotel in Dubai, Fantoli will be responsible for the day to day management of the 232-room hotel, including the recruitment and development of staff, annual budgets and assuring the highest levels of guest satisfaction are met.
