Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced that Sophie Latapie has been appointed as Cluster Director of Communications for Rosewood Mayakoba and Rosewood San Miguel de Allende. In her new role, Latapie will be responsible for spearheading the strategic direction, initiatives, planning, coordination, and management of both property's integrated public relations and communications. Reporting directly to the Regional Director of Sales & Marketing for Rosewood Mayakoba and the Director of Sales and Marketing for Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, she will oversee media relations and create and communicate the hotel's messages and ensure overall continuity of hotel brand consistency and image.

Mario Lopez has been appointed as Executive Chef at Grand Velas Riviera Maya

Mario Lopez has been promoted to Executive Chef of the AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Maya, one of Mexico’s Foodie Resorts. In his new position, he oversees the “Beyond All-Inclusive, Beyond All Compare” resort’s AAA Five Diamond restaurant, Cocina de Autor, the first all-inclusive restaurant in the world to win this prestigious distinction. Additionally he is responsible for five other gourmet specialty restaurants, multiple bars, 24-hr insuite service and the catering operation of the 539 all suite, uber luxury resort. Wayu "Light" Wattanakamin has been named Head Restaurant Chef at Sen Lin restaurant at Grand Velas Riviera Maya

In his new role, Chef Light will develop a new menu for the Asian-inspired restaurant, balancing modern and ancient cuisine that plays on new textures and original presentations with the traditional ingredients. The appointment is effective immediately. With 14 years of culinary-industry experience and a native Thai, Wattanakamin began his career after culinary school by opening his own restaurant. He later explored international cuisine at the Sahara Resorts in Kuwait, the Millennium Plaza Hotel in Dubai, the Diplomatic Club in Doha and many more throughout Europe and Malaysia. Most recently, Wattanakamin headed up the Signature Restaurant at Banyan Tree Mayakoba. His experience and talent create a combination of inspiration that stem from recipes passed down from his mom, keeping traditional food and flavors of the Thai Kitchen in every dish.

Aristides Carrillo has been appointed as Spa Manager at Viceroy Riviera Maya

Mr. Carrillo comes to The Spa at Viceroy Riviera Maya with 18 years of management experience at leading hotel and resort spas. Prior to joining the team at Viceroy Riviera Maya, he was Assistant Director of Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Mayakoba. Previous positions include Spa & Gymnasium Director at Le Meridien Cancun Resort & Spa, Assistant Spa Manager at Me Cancun, and Assistant Spa Director at The Ritz- Carlton Cancun. The Spa at Viceroy Riviera Maya adopts traditional Mayan healing techniques, treatments, botanicals and indigenous products with its exclusive Mayan Traditions signature spa collection, and at the same time elebrates the latest spa techniques and innovations with special treatment collections and programs of revitalization and rejuvenation. The spa staff includes a Shaman-in-residence, who greets arriving guests with a traditional Mayan blessing.

Vincent Wallez has been appointed as Executive Chef at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Wallez was born and raised in Bayonne, France but has since traveled the globe developing his signature culinary style. His skills have been recognized by world-class resorts and restaurants, earning him tenure at multiple five-star establishments, from Russia to the Caribbean. Prior to joining the Andaz Mayakoba team, Wallez held the title of Executive Chef at Nizuc Resort and Spa in Mexico where he elevated Cancún’s gourmet scene. Now appointed at Andaz Mayakoba as Executive Chef, he will work to follow the Andaz brand ethos of providing inspiring, indigenous and unscripted experiences, creating new culinary and cocktail offerings unique to Mayakoba and Riviera Maya. In his cooking, Chef Wallez seeks a balance between flavors and classic techniques, focusing on fresh ingredients and visionary touches which can be found in all four of the diverse and unique restaurant concepts at the resort.

Stephan Karl has been appointed as Executive Assistant Manager of Food & Beverage at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Karl arrives to the Andaz Mayakoba team with international experience and a creative flare for the position. He began his Hyatt career in 2006 as the Assistant Banqueting Manager at Hyatt Regency Mainz in Germany and has remained a part of the Hyatt family ever since. He continued on to hold executive positions at various Hyatt brands across the world, namely Park Hyatt in both Dubai, UAE and Sydney, Australia, as well as the Grand Hyatt Beijing. He has a strong belief in keeping a constant eye on the local culture and staying current. Karl enjoys exploring Riviera Maya and beyond with his family, getting to know Mexican culture and cuisine firsthand. Karl will work closely with Chef Wallez on developing the food and beverage concepts for each of the four unique dining venues at the resort as well as overseeing catering for meetings and events.

Tulio Baruch has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Baruch comes to Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya with extensive senior management and hospitality experience, having held previous senior executive sales and marketing roles in renowned Mexican hotels such as Nizuc, Rosewood Mayakoba, and Presidente Intercontinental. Born in Mexico, Baruch received his bachelor’s degree in hotel management from La Salle University in Cancún and holds deep insight into the Riviera Maya tourism markets, giving him a unique advantage. Baruch will manage bookings for the resort’s 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space including five meeting and event studios and a 6,000-square-foot ballroom, ensuring an unrivaled group experience for both business and social guests.

Lin Schatz has been appointed as General Manager at Andaz Mayakoba Resort

The new Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, set to open December 2016 in Riviera Maya, Mexico is pleased to announce the appointment of Lin Schatz as General Manager, leading the opening of the property and managing all aspects of the pre-opening stages of development. In his new role, Schatz will also be responsible for overseeing all property operations.A hospitality and Hyatt veteran, Schatz began his career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation more than 25 years ago. Prior to joining Andaz Mayakoba Resort, Schatz most recently served as General Manager at Andaz West Hollywood in Los Angeles and numerous other locations including Hyatt Key West where he was nominated for General Manager of the Year – Small Hotels.
