IHG Hotels & Resorts continues Nordic expansion with first property in Iceland

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world's leading hotel companies, announces its first signing in Iceland for its midscale long stay brand Candlewood Suites, by IHG. Signed as part of an agreement with ALVA Capital, IHG will look to develop up to 500 rooms in the city or wider Iceland over the next three to five years introducing some of IHG's leading brands, including Holiday Inn Express and Garner hotels, to the Nordics.

In high anticipation, Iceland Parliament Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton has opened its doors to guests. In a complex of seven rebuilt and new buildings, the 163-room hotel sits at the doorstep of the Icelandic parliament - Alþingi - joining Curio Collection by Hilton, a global portfolio of more than 130 one-of-a-kind hotels and resorts handpicked for their distinct character.

The Reykjavik EDITION Launching summer 2021

Opening in a prime location within the downtown area of the city, The Reykjavik EDITION is anticipated to launch in summer 2021. In addition, the hotel is expected to offer guests and locals a diverse culinary offering with a signature restaurant, destination bar and a café.

Hyatt Announces Plans for First Hotel in Iceland with Hyatt Centric Reykjavík

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with H176 Reykjavík ehf, a fully owned subsidiary of Icelandic real estate company Reitir fasteignafelag hf, to open the first Hyatt branded hotel in Iceland. Expected to debut in 2022, the 169-room Hyatt Centric Reykjavík will bolster Hyatt's lifestyle portfolio and the Hyatt Centric brand's presence in Europe.
