With seven well-loved properties already in its portfolio, the Nobis Hospitality Group will further expand its collection this summer with the opening of Concepció by Nobis in Palma de Mallorca. Intimate, relaxed, and wearing a distinctly Mediterranean glamor, the property will be a southern beacon for the Swedish brand, which will apply its hallmark style to a historic building on the edge of the city's Old Town. Designed in joint collaboration with longtime architecture partner Wingårdhs, alongside Spanish firms Jordi Herrero Arquitectos and Eduardo Garcia Acuna Arquitecto, the 31 room-hotel is set to be a year-round celebration of the Mallorcan capital, and a place where Scandinavian cool and sophisticated Spanish charm blend for an original experience.

Marriott International Signs Agreement To Debut JW Marriott Brand In Spain

Marriott International today announced it has signed an agreement to introduce the JW Marriott brand to Madrid, offering discerning guests a new destination to rediscover a balance in mind, body and spirit, in the heart of the city. Located in the central Plaza de Canalejas, JW Marriott Madrid will be developed by Millenium Hotels Real Estate as part of their lease agreement with a wholly owned subsidiary of Belagua and is expected to open in 2022.

Ona Novo González has been appointed as Co-Chapter Leader at WHTT Chapter Barcelona

Ona is a tourism and hotel management student at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi (Universitat Ramon Llull), with a passion for culture, travel, and data science. She recently joined the team of The Hotels Network. Onastrongly believes in an inclusive, diverse, and feminist world as a way of life, which drove her to join the Team of WHTT Chapter Barcelona.  Her appointment to WHTT, is further the organisation's mission to increase the success and engagement in the workplace for women and other underrepresented groups, and to enable companies to attract, develop and retain potential diverse talent, nurtured by a powerful community. WHTT believes that by inspiring communities to enter the industry and organizations to leverage and retain in the sector, will create more diverse and inclusive leadership. Onais joining the existing team lead by Luz Alvarado, Idoia Herrero and Maribel Esparcia. 

Thomas Moons has been appointed as General Manager at La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, Mallorca

Belmond also appoints Thomas Moons as the General Manager of La Residencia. Having previously served as General Manager of Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel, Lima since 2018, Moons began his new role in Mallorca in January 2021. With over 15 years of international hospitality experience, Moons worked at renowned hotels in Belgium, The Netherlands and Dubai. In 2012, Moons joined Belmond as Rooms Division Manager at Governor's Residence, a jewel of Yangon situated in the Embassy District, before moving to take up his role as Resident Manager at La Residence d'Angkor, Cambodia in 2014. Moons then progressed to General Manager at La Residence Phou Vao, Laos in 2015, followed by Hotel Manager at Miraflores Park, Peru in 2016, where he progressed to become General Manager in 2018. At Miraflores Park, he demonstrated his ability to elevate his team's commitment, service and culture. A testament to his leadership, the hotel received recognition as South America's Most Romantic Resort, Peru's Leading Hotel Suite and Peru's Leading Business Hotel, in 2020 by World Travel Awards.
