Derek Shelly has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Aurora Denver Conference Center

Commonwealth Hotels announced today the hiring of Derek Shelly as the new general manager of the Hyatt Regency Aurora Denver Conference Center. Shelly brings over 20 years of hospitality experience to the hotel, working with various major hospitality brands in a number of roles. He most recently served as general manager of the Denver Marriott South at Park Meadows, a full-service property featuring 279 rooms.

Aaron Coburn has been appointed as General Manager at Clayton Members Club & Hotel

At the helm of Clayton is General Manager Aaron Coburn, who brings an impressive track record in the hospitality industry. Thriving in the entrepreneurial mindset of upscale, independent properties, Coburn has held leadership roles at prominent Colorado hotels and resorts for more than 13 years. Prior to his time at Clayton, Coburn served as the general manager at Denver's The ART Hotel. Cultivated at a young age, spending summers working at his father's restaurant in Newport Beach, Coburn, who attended culinary school in Napa Valley, has a passion for food and beverage.

Aaron Bajorek has been appointed as General Manager at the Art Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

Covington, KY - Commonwealth Hotels announced today that Aaron Bajorek has been appointed general manager of the Art Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton. Mr. Bajorek brings over 20 years of hospitality experience to his new role as general manager having previously served as the property's assistant general manager since joining the Art in 2017. Prior to joining the Art Hotel, Bajorek built his career as a food and beverage leader with tenures at award-winning luxury properties including the Brown Palace Hotel and Spa in Denver and the Sonnenalp Hotel in Vail, Colorado. A Denver native, Aaron is a dedicated member of the community and holds a board position with the Golden Triangle Creative District and the Civic Center Conservancy.

Chris Schmidt has been promoted to Director of Front Office at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa Avon, Vail Valley

Schmidt has been a Westin Riverfront team member for the past four years, starting at the Front Desk and moving up to serve as a Guest Service Manager. He previously worked at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Flagstaff and The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera. A graduate of the International Hotel & Restaurant Management program at Northern Arizona University's W.A. Franke College of Business, Schmidt volunteers with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Tina Petersen has been appointed as Director of Human Resources at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa Avon, Vail Valley

A skilled human resources professional with more than 20 years of experience, Petersen most recently served as a Senior Human Resource Manager at Vacasa. Other previous experience includes leadership positions at Wyndham Vacation Rentals, Howard Head Sports Medicine, The Home Depot and Target. She is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management & HRCI. A graduate of West Texas A&M University, Petersen is a previous board member of the High Country Human Resources Association and the Vail Valley Lacrosse Club.

She has completed assignments on over 2,000 hotels and resorts in nearly every U.S. state and across the Americas. Tanya has written extensively about the hospitality industry and is a sought-after speaker at major hotel conferences, in addition to lecturing at the University of Denver.Tanya graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. She is a designated member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and a licensed appraiser in several states.
