Joseph Owen has been named Food & Beverage Manager at Warwick Denver Hotel

With nine years of service industry experience, Owen will oversee Warwick’s entire food and beverage program, which includes in-room dining and Randolph’s Restaurant and Bar, the hotel’s original-concept restaurant featuring inspired, modern Colorado cuisine. Owen was previously Assistant General Manager of Lower48 Kitchen in Denver, General Manager of 15C in Colorado Springs and Food & Beverage Manager for Churchill’s Cigar Bar and The Ship Tavern at the Brown Palace Hotel. He also held various serving positions prior to assuming management roles. Owen earned an MBA in Hospitality Management from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2011 and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2010.

Mark Hughes has been named Director of Rooms at The Westin Riverfront Beaver Creek

Hughes comes to The Westin Riverfront from the Sheraton Denver Downtown, where he most recently served as the Director of Housekeeping. A graduate of the University of Denver, Hughes also served as the Operations & Housekeeping Manager at the Denver Marriott Tech Center. Other hospitality experience includes The Westin Denver Downtown and the Denver Marriott City Center. Hughes has worked as a task force manager at several Starwood brands, including The Westin Snowmass, the St. Regis Deer Valley and the W Hotel Silicon Valley. Hughes spent more than 10 years living overseas in Africa and Asia and has led volunteer outreach trips to Haiti and Nicaragua.

Chris Cofelice has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at The Westin Riverfront Beaver Creek

Cofelice joins The Westin Riverfront team from the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort, where he most recently served as the Director of Sales & Marketing. A graduate of the University of Florida, Cofelice previously held senior sales positions at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa and the Beaver Creek Lodge. Cofelice volunteers with the Vail Valley Habitat for Humanity and with the annual Eagle River Clean-up.

Dustin Kovats has been named General Manager at the Boulder Marriott

Dustin Kovats has been named general manager at the Boulder Marriott. Kovats joins White Lodging at the Boulder Marriott after serving as the general manager at the Courtyard Pittsburgh North where he led an operations team to a ranking of No. 2 in Overall Satisfaction out of 914 Courtyards and No. 1 in Staff Service. Prior, he was the assistant general manager at the Pittsburgh Marriott North as well as the Chicago Marriott Northwest. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

Rene Clemente has been appointed as Food and Beverage Director at Gateway Canyons Resort

Prior to joining the Gateway team, Clemente served as the Banquet Manager and Food and Beverage Manager at The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel for six years, where he was accountable for leading the banquet department with revenues of more than $20 million, 80,000 square feet of event space and developing creative packages to enhance guests’ experiences. Clemente’s growth escalated in banquet managing roles at The Claremont Resort and Spa and Campton Place Hotel, leading him to his most recent position as Director of Banquets for the St. Regis Hotel and Residences in Atlanta, overseeing the $7.5 million banquet operations for the AAA Five Diamond hotel and increasing the efficiency and success of the weddings, galas and event department.

Leah Gower has been appointed as Spa Director at Gateway Canyons Resort

Michael Berk has been appointed as Director of Catering at The JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek

Berk has spent the majority of his professional career with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, most recently serving as the Director of Catering at the Four Season Denver. He previously served as the Director of Catering at the Four Seasons Jackson Hole and Assistant Director of Catering at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas. He also worked in restaurant management in both Scottsdale and Washington, DC. Berk’s passion for quality food and service was born while growing up in San Francisco, where he often helped his parents entertain. A graduate of the University of Nevada Las Vegas, he also studied at Switzerland’s Ecole Hotelier and Hotel Institute Montreux . The JW Marriott Denver is nestled in the prestigious shopping & dining district of Cherry Creek. Deanna Brown has been appointed as Director of Catering and Conference Services at Four Seasons Vail

Brown brings to Four Seasons Resort Vail more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She joins the property’s outstanding Catering & Events Services team, including Geena Urbina, Senior Catering Manager; Rebecca Steffen, Catering and Group Sales Manager; and Lauren Karpiel, Conference Services Manager. Brown joins Four Seasons Resort Vail after achieving success in numerous positions within the industry, most recently at Grand Hyatt Denver, where she held the director of catering position since 2005. Prior to that, Brown served as the director of catering & convention services at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort & Spa, opening the resort in 2003, as well as at Hyatt Regency in Cincinnati, Ohio and Bellevue, Washington. Brown’s experience also includes a five-year appointment at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa, where she held various management roles.

Robert C. Friedl has been promoted to General Manager at The Sebastian - Vail

The Sebastian - Vail – A Timbers Resort has announced that Robert Friedl has been promoted to general manger, overseeing all operations of the award-winning luxury boutique hotel, located in the heart of Vail, Colo. Friedl has been a leader within the Timbers Resorts collection of hotels and private residence clubs for two years including his most recent role as assistant general manager at The Sebastian - Vail where he focused on the hotel’s complex food and beverage operations and guest experience. Prior to joining the team in Vail, Friedl was the resort manager at The Residences at Kapalua Bay in Maui, Hawaii.

Jennifer Fox has been named Board Member at Inspirato

Inspirato, the world’s largest destination club, announced today that Jennifer Fox, president of FRHI Hotels & Resorts, International Division, and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, has been named to the company’s Board of Directors. Fox has been president of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, a luxury brand known for operating some of the world’s most storied hotel properties, since 2011. She also holds the role of president, International Division, for FRHI Hotels & Resorts (FRHI), the parent company of Fairmont and its sister brands Raffles Hotels & Resorts and Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts. Fox is coming to Inspirato with more than 25 years of experience in the luxury, resort and business segments of the hospitality industry, with an extensive background in hotel operations, brand development, marketing and hotel brand and market repositioning. She also has extensive experience as a general manager, having run some of the finest luxury hotels and resorts in the world including the InterContinental Hong Kong, which she rebranded from the Regent, and the Orchid at Mauna Lani (now a Fairmont), which she rebranded from Ritz Carlton.

Tom Walker has been appointed as Director of Sales at Cheyenne Mountain Resort

Thomas J. Walker comes to his new role with Benchmark Hospitality at Cheyenne Mountain Resort with significant experience within national sales for leading hotel brands and independent properties. He was most recently director of sales for the Antlers Hilton Hotel in Colorado Springs, having previously served as director of sales and catering for the Garden of the Gods Club, also of Colorado Springs. Mr. Walker has held senior-level sales positions at properties within the Wyndham, Marriott and Hilton brands in markets across the United States. He is a graduate of the University of West Virginia.

Curtis Bova has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Cheyenne Mountain Resort

Curtis T. Bova brings more than 20 years of senior marketing, sales and operational leadership experience to his new position with Benchmark Hospitality at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. Mr. Bova previously served as vice president of sales and vice president national sales for Destination Hotels & Resorts. He began with this company as director of sales and marketing and was quickly promoted to regional director of sales and marketing, subsequently serving as assistant general manager. Prior to this, Mr. Bova worked for Marriott Hotels & Resorts and has extensive experience across a diverse range of property profiles, including branded and independently positioned hotels, resorts, and conference centers. He studied international economics at Temple University of Tokyo, Japan, and is currently working towards earning a master certificate in hospitality management from Cornell University.

Ben Tutt has been appointed as General Manager at The Lodge at Vail, A RockResort

For Ben Tutt, the new general manager of The Lodge at Vail, A RockResort, his return to Vail is a homecoming, but the hotel he remembers has a whole new look. Tutt’s hospitality roots run deep – he is a fifth generation hotelier and as a child he lived in the famed Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, which was run by his family since 1918. Tutt has managed boutique hotels including The Reefs Resort & Club in Bermuda, Wyndham Martineau Bay Resort and Spa, and La Posada de Santa Fe, where he also served as President of the Santa Fe Lodger’s Association. As general manager of The Lodge at Vail, Tutt will continue to focus on delivering impeccable service, and capitalize on the renovations to bring the boutique hotel to the forefront of Vail’s evolution – providing its guests with chic alpine décor and the modern luxury they expect in a travel experience.

Scott Sloan has been named General Manager at The Curtis, A Doubletree by Hilton

Denver’s only dedicated pop culture hotel, the Curtis - a Doubletree by Hilton, is pleased to announce that Scott Sloan is now serving as the “Starship Captain” or General Manger. Managed by Denver’s Sage Hospitality, the modern Curtis recently completed an extensive $7 million property renovation that included upgrades to all 336 guest rooms and a lobby expansion. Since mid-2014, Sloan has been a Task Force Manager for Sage Hospitality, most recently serving as the Acting Director of Sales & Marketing at the Marriott Minneapolis Southwest. With more than 15 years of hospitality experience, he previously served as the General Manager of the Messina Hof Winery & Resort in Texas and the Hilton San Diego Del Mar, another Sage Hospitality hotel. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Sloan has also held senior hospitality sales positions at the Hilton College Station and Conference Center and the Omni Austin Hotel at Southpark, both in Texas.

Kevin Delonay has been promoted to Executive Chef at Beaver Creek’s Westin Riverfront

Chef Delonay will oversee all cuisine for Maya, The Westin Riverfront’s modern Mexican kitchen created by Chef Richard Sandoval, the Lift, the Lobby Bar and Starbucks. In addition, he will oversee all food offerings for the resort’s more than 7,500 square feet of banquet and meeting space, including the 4,000 square foot Riverside Ballroom, which features floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning Beaver Creek Mountain views, and 2,000 square foot outdoor banquet terrace. A graduate of Virginia’s James Madison University, Chef Delonay has been a member of The Westin Riverfront team for more than five years, most recently serving as Executive Sous Chef. Since moving to the Vail Valley in 2006, he has cooked at several top restaurants, including Sweet Basil, Dish and the Game Creek Club.

Leorah Young has been appointed as Social Catering Sales Manager at JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek

Young joins the JW Marriott Denver sales team from Kevin Taylor Catering at the Denver Art Museum, where she most recently served as the Director of Events & Catering. She has extensive restaurant management experience, including serving as the General Manager of The Pinyon and Assistant General Manager of Radda Trattoria, both in Boulder, Colorado. A graduate of Emerson College, Young also holds a Masters in Hospitality Industry Studies from New York University. She is currently a Robert B. Sturm Fellow at the Anti-Defamation League and holds a Level 2 Wine Fundamentals Certificate from the International Sommelier Guild.
