Eren Guryel has been appointed as Executive Chef at Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele

A 16-year veteran to Four Seasons, Chef Guryel joined Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele from Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai, where he served as Executive Sous Chef and was responsible for an extensive culinary operation. Prior to China, Guryel travelled the globe working at various Four Seasons outposts as Sous Chef, including Four Seasons Hotel Boston; Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi; The Ritz-Carlton Chicago, A Four Seasons Hotel; Four Seasons Hotel Austin; and the iconic Four Seasons Hotel New York.

Rodolfo "Rudy" Fao has been appointed as General Manager at Volcano House

Hawaii Volcanoes Lodge Company, a partnership that unites Ortega National Parks and Aqua Hospitality, has hired Rodolfo "Rudy" Fao as general manger of the Volcano House on Hawaii Island. Part of Aqua's Monogram Hotel Collection, Volcano House is a historic property located within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Closed since 2010, Fao will oversee the re-opening of the property as it unveils new guest rooms and public spaces in phases through June 2013. The first phase opened in March 2013.Fao's background includes more than 13 years working in the hospitality industry, most recently with Outrigger Hotels where he worked his way up from housekeeping manager to assistant general manager. During his time with Outrigger, Fao worked at several properties including Outrigger Reef on the Beach (Oahu), Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort (Big Island) and, most recently, Ohana Honolulu Airport Hotel and Best Western The Plaza Airport Hotel (Oahu). Prior to Outrigger, Fao worked at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa and Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki. While at the Ilikai, Fao received the 2006 Hawaii Hotel Association award for Front Office Employee of the Year.

Catherine Johns has been appointed as Director of Catering and Convention Services at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa

A graduate of The University of Michigan, Johns began her hospitality career at MF Productions, an events production firm in New York specializing in creative projects for arts, non-profit and philanthropic organizations. Prior to joining the Hyatt brand, Catherine held various catering and events positions throughout Washington D.C. and Virginia, until joining the Park Hyatt Washington in 2008 as Director of Catering. In 2010 Johns joined the Andaz 5th Avenue team, where she played a critical role in the launch of the hotel, the second Andaz property in New York. In January 2013 Catherine relocated to Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach, where she now serves as the Director of Catering and Convention Services.

Evelyn Shiroma has been appointed as Director of Property Sales & Revenue at Aqua Waikiki Wave and Aqua Waikiki Pearl

Aqua Hotels & Resorts, a division of Aqua Hospitality, www.aquahospitality.com, recently announced the appointment of Evelyn Shiroma to the new position of Director of Property Sales & Revenue for Aqua Waikiki Wave and Aqua Waikiki Pearl hotels. Prior to joining Aqua, Shiroma was at ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel – where she was recruited to re-open the hotel in early 2001 and later became the recipient of their Manager of the Year award. Shiroma has more than 20 years of experience in management, supervision and customer relations. Her resume includes positions at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa, Outrigger Waikiki Hotel and Bally’s Hotel and Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Ke'alaonapua Kadooka has joined Four Seasons Resorts Lanai as Learning and Development Manager

Kadooka, a 15-year veteran of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, joins Four Seasons Resorts Lanai from Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, where she served as Learning Manager. While on the Big Island, she was instrumental in retaining the core standards that excelled the team to retain the prestigious AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star status. Prior to Learning Manager, Kadooka held various management positions at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, including Benefits Manager, Food & Beverage Assistant Manager and Recreation Team Leader.

Guido Ulmann has been appointed as Executive Chef at Outrigger Reef on the Beach

Ulmann has been an active part of the Hawaii food and hospitality industry for many years. He comes to Outrigger from the Waialae Country Club where he was the executive chef since 2004. Prior to that, he was executive chef at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Prince Kuhio hotel. Ulmann also has experience on the U.S. mainland, as he was the executive chef at the Los Angeles Hilton & Towers for a period during his career. He began his food and beverage career in1966 and has flourished as he pursued his passion, honed his talents and grew with this ever-evolving industry.

Michael Fields has been appointed as Director of Finance at Turtle Bay Resort

Turtle Bay Resort, the landmark property on Oahu’s North Shore, has appointed Michael Fields director of finance. Danna Holck, vice president and general manager, made the announcement. Prior to joining Turtle Bay Resort, Michael Fields was director of finance for Park Place Hospitality. He has extensive experience within hospitality finance and accounting, working for management companies and leading hotel brands at properties across the nation. He gained international experience working as controller for a luxury hotel in Sydney, Australia.

Ian Williams has been appointed as Manager at Four Seasons Resort Lana'i, The Lodge at Koele

Ian Williams has been named manager of Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele. In his new role, Williams will oversee the rooms and laundry divisions at the 102-room Resort. Williams, a 15-year veteran of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, has worked in various management roles in Southern California. His family originates from Kauai, and he makes the move back to back to the Islands from Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, where he most recently served as director of housekeeping for the 285-room Hotel. Prior to Los Angeles, Williams was with Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara in various roles including director of housekeeping, guest service manager, resort assistant manager, and assistant spa manager.

Darren Haley has been appointed as Director of Revenue Management at Four Seasons Resorts Lanai

Darren Haley has been named Director of Revenue Management at Four Seasons Resorts Lanai. In his new role, Haley will oversee the reservations department of Manele Bay and The Lodge at Koele to strategically lead the team in revenue-generating practices. Haley, originally from Arizona, joins Four Seasons from The Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he served as director of revenue management for the 538-room resort. Prior, Haley was director of revenue management with Westward Look Resort in Tucson, Arizona and Lake Arrowhead Resort, in Lake Arrowhead, California.

Jon McFarland has been named Executive Assistant Manager at Hilton Waikoloa Village

Joining the Waikoloa team from Louisville, Kentucky, McFarland was previously the general manager for The Seelbach Hilton Louisville. With more than 25 years of service in the hotel business, McFarland’s award-winning hospitality experience is extensive within the Hilton Brand, where he has held positions as general manager, rooms division manager and front office manager. McFarland was instrumental in achieving the 2011 Hotel of the Year for Interstate Hotels and Resorts Full Service Division for The Seelbach Hilton Louisville. His distinguished career also includes service at Hilton Austin and Doubletree Austin, Sheraton Nashville Downtown and Hilton San Antonio Airport.

Hilmy Dole has been appointed as Hotel Manager at Kauai Sands Hotel

With 20 years of experience in the visitor industry, Dole has had a long history with Kauai, having opened the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa in 1989. Other management positions include Executive Housekeeper at Fairmont Kea Lani, Assistant General Manager at The Kapalua Villas and Front Office/Guest Service Manager at Grand Wailea Resort & Spa and General Manager for Abercrombie and Kent Destination Clubs - where he managed luxury properties on Kauai, Oahu, Maui and Hawaii Island.

Matthew Pickett has been appointed as General Manager at Aqua Lotus Honolulu

With over 16 years of experience in Hawaii's hospitality industry, including Five Diamond service and a great record of improving revenue maximization and operational efficiency, Pickett recently guided the 51-room Aqua Lotus Honolulu through a successful $2.5 million room renovation and upgrade. His knowledge and experience in food and beverage is also great asset as the hotel will launch an exciting new full-service restaurant in 2013.

Noel K.M. Marquardsen has been appointed as Director of Human Resources at Turtle Bay Resort

Noel Marquardsen was previously human resources manager for HawkTree, Inc., a diversified holding company and leader in transportation services in Honolulu. Prior to this she served as area human resources manager for Securitas Security Services, Inc., the largest security services provider in the US and the state of Hawaii, also located in Honolulu.

Marcus Stewart has been appointed as Sous Chef at Four Seasons Resorts Lanai

Marcus Stewart has been named Executive Sous Chef of Four Seasons Resorts Lanai. In his new role, Chef Stewart will assist Executive Chef Kevin Erving in overseeing all culinary operations and menu development for the seven restaurants and bars at Manele Bay and The Lodge at Koele. Chef Stewart joined Four Seasons Resorts Lanai from Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta in 2010. While in Atlanta, he served as Chef de Cuisine at Park 75 and played an integral role in the success of rebranding the restaurant. Prior to Atlanta, he served as Sous Chef at Four Seasons Hotel Houston. Chef Stewart’s other culinary experience includes positions at renowned chef Frank McMahon’s restaurant Hank’s Seafood in Charleston, South Carolina and Bogenhauser Hof in Munich, Germany.

Bryan Ashlock has been appointed as Hotel Manager at Turtle Bay Resort

Benchmark Hospitality International, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has appointed Bryan Ashlock hotel manager for Turtle Bay Resort, the landmark property on Oahu’s North Shore. Danna Holck, vice president and general manager, made the announcement. Bryan Ashlock was most recently director of food & beverage and executive chef for the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa. He has previously served as executive chef for several Sheraton properties in Hawaii. Mr. Ashlock has also held the title of executive sous chef for luxury properties within Hawaii, Japan and Hong Kong.

Mark Turina has been appointed as Sales and Catering Manager at Best Western The Plaza Hotel and the OHANA Honolulu Airport Hotel

Simeon Miranda, general manager of the Best Western The Plaza Hotel and the OHANA Honolulu Airport Hotel , is pleased to welcome Mark Turina as sales and catering manager for the two Outrigger-managed properties. In this newly created role, Mr. Turina will report directly to Stephanie Nojima, director of sales and marketing, and is responsible for selling, promoting and optimizing revenue for the food and beverage and catering departments.
