Jon Benson has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa

Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa, Surf City's premier oceanfront destination resort, today announces the appointment of Jon Benson as General Manager. Benson will return to oversee operations of the 519-room property, where he once previously served as Director of Food & Beverage and led the opening of the resort's signature restaurant, Watertable, in 2014.With over 35 years of experience at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Benson has held positions in 13 hotels and five years in its corporate office. Benson comes to Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach from Hana-Maui Resort, a Destination by Hyatt property, where he served as General Manager since 2020. Starting his career in culinary as a third shift room service cook, Benson ascended to become Executive Chef at five resorts and eventually took the role of Corporate Director of Culinary Operations for the Americas, overseeing more than 130 Hyatt hotels in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. Always aspiring to be a General Manager, Benson assumed this position at Hyatt Centric Key West in 2015. Benson has also served as General Manager at Park Hyatt Washington D.C., Hyatt Regency Long Beach and Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach before his most recent role at Hana-Maui Resort.

Amit Patel has been named Director of Rooms at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa

Amit Patel has been named Director of Rooms at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa, Surf City's premier beachfront resort destination. Patel is a respected hospitality professional with over 17 years of leadership experience and deep roots with top tier hotels and resorts, including nine years with distinctive Hyatt Hotels & Resorts properties. In this position, he will manage rooming operations of the resort and its 517-guestrooms, which are currently debuting a fresh coastal-inspired redesign, in addition to a wealth of amenities, such as Slyders Water Playground, Pacific Waters Spa and a bustling retail plaza with upscale shops and boutiques.  Patel's unique familiarity with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts began at the start of his career when he served as restaurant manager at the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco, California. Most recently, he held the position of Director of Food, Beverage & Events at Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa and prior to that, held the Assistant Food & Beverage Director position at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa. Previous to his tenure with the Hyatt brand, Patel held leadership positions with respected industry brands including Marriott, Renaissance Hotels and Embassy Suites. Patel studied at the Conrad N. Hilton College at the University of Houston and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in both Hotel & Restaurant Management and Business Management. A fan of sunny skies and surf, on his time off he can be found enjoying Surf City's prized beaches with his wife and their two sons.

Alexis Amato has been appointed as Transient Sales Manager at Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel

Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel announced today the appointment of Alexis Amato as Transient Sales Manager. In her new role, Amato will be responsible for growing negotiated and business travel, as well as driving marketing efforts for the 157-room beachside Huntington Beach hotel. With over a decade of hospitality experience, Amato brings event and sales expertise, coupled with vast leadership abilities to the hotel. Before joining the Shorebreak team, Amato served as the senior sales manager at the Hotel Maya, a Doubletree resort in Long Beach, where she facilitated group stays and events. Prior to that role, she served as the client services and catering sales coordinator at the Avenue of the Arts hotel in Costa Mesa. Although she is originally an East Coast native, Alexis spent most of her life in San Diego before graduating from Cal State Fullerton. When Amato isn’t busy providing the Shorebreak’s guests with the genuine Surf City experience, she enjoys blogging about food and cocktails, traveling to different countries and challenging herself with new hikes.

Chris Sessions has been appointed as Associate Director of Sales at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa

Experienced hospitality sales professional, Christopher Sessions has been appointed Associate Director of Sales at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa, Surf City’s premier AAA Four Diamond beachfront destination. The announcement was made today by Director of Sales and Marketing, Kay Cochran.A professional with more than 10 years of hospitality sales and strategy experience, Sessions will be responsible for overseeing the group sales efforts of the upscale 517-key property. Most recently, Sessions held the position of Associate Director of Sales at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Previous to the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, Sessions served in North Carolina at the Omni Grove Park Inn as National Sales Director and Pinehurst Resort as Director, National Accounts. Sessions began his hospitality career with Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel and throughout his career has held sales management positions across the country. Sessions holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis on Marketing from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C.

Scott Blakeslee has been named General Manager at Paséa Hotel & Spa

Pacific Hospitality Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Blakeslee as General Manager of Paséa Hotel & Spa, the newest Meritage Collection property expected to open early 2016 in Huntington Beach, Calif. Blakeslee will be responsible for all the pre-opening stages of development, as well as the daily resort operations once the Hotel is launched.

Peter Rice has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach

Most recently, Rice held the position of General Manager of Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa, where he led the 493-room resort in exceeding previous guest satisfaction rates. Under his leadership, the property was named one of the Top 25 Resorts in the Southwest on Condé Nast Traveler’s 2013 Readers Choice Awards. Rice began his hospitality career with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts 30 years ago as an Assistant Room Service Manager at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Florida. While there, he held several positions of responsibility in the food and beverage department over a period of six years. Rice was later appointed Director of Operations at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa, where he worked for two years before moving into General Manager positions at the Hyatt Regency Irvine and the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara in California. With a fierce commitment to community service, Rice has been a visible business leader in each community in which he has lived. In Irvine, he was a founding member of the Tourism Improvement District for the City of Irvine, an arm of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, and also served on the Board of the Orange County Tourism Council. He held positions on the Board of Directors and Executive Board of the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureaus as well as the National Advisory Board of Northern Arizona University School of Hotel and Restaurant Management.
