Simon McGrath has been appointed as General Manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru

Hilton Worldwide and DoubleTree by Hilton announced the appointment of industry veteran Simon McGrath as the General Manager of their second DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Malaysia. The DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru is scheduled to open its doors in July 2014. McGrath, who was instrumental in the rebranding of DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Phuket - Surin Beach in Thailand, brings over three decades of experience in the international hospitality industry. He has held several senior management roles with prominent hospitality brands in many countries around the globe including Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. “I am honoured and excited to lead DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru and look forward to serving as the captain of a new team to further build on Doubletree by Hilton’s presence in Malaysia after a successful entry in Kuala Lumpur,” said McGrath on his appointment. McGrath is also the former Vice President of Tourism Accommodation Australia (2011 -2012)

Jacqueline Albert Pensyl has been appointed as Director of Sales at Silka Cheras Kuala Lumpur

Jacqueline started her career with Sutera Harbour Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. She has also worked for Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and at the National Sales Office of Shangri-La’s Hotels and Resorts, Malaysia. Her portfolio also includes senior attachments with Holiday Inn Resort Penang, Melia Kuala Lumpur and most recently with Ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Cheras. Jacqueline has significant experience in the hospitality industry with a focus on sales. Her overall strengths and passion for building relationships will be essential to the ongoing success of the 319-room Silka Cheras Kuala Lumpur, which is scheduled to soft open on 23 April 2014. In her current capacity, Jacq as she is fondly known as, will be in charge of the entire sales and marketing team, building relationships and assessing the needs of local businesses, working with the general manager to facilitate marketing efforts and overseeing sales efforts that assure the success of the hotel.

Hugo Gerritsen has been appointed as Area General Manager at Dorsett Grand Subang and Dorsett Grand Labuan

Among his career milestones, Hugo had worked in various reputable hotel chains in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East such as the ITT Sheraton, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Movenpick Hotels & Resorts and GoldenLeaves Hotels and Resorts. Prior to joining Dorsett Grand Subang, he was a Chief Operating Officer at Katara Hospitality in Qatar.
