TUI Group expands its portfolio of owned hotels in Cape Verde

TUI Group is set to expand its portfolio of owned hotels in the Cape Verde Islands with the addition of a new resort. The first TUI Magic Life club in the island state off the west coast of Africa will be developed in the island of Boa Vista. The extensive resort is located directly on the Praia de Chaves beach and will feature 575 rooms. It is scheduled to open in the 2021/22 Winter season. TUI's portfolio in Cape Verde will thus grow to seven owned hotels. Apart from five Riu hotels, the first Robinson Club is currently being built in the island of Sal. The travel brand also operates the TUI Sensimar Cabo Verde Resort & Spa concept hotel in the island.

New Residence Inn by Marriott coming to Accra, Ghana in 2023

The Residence Inn by Marriott Accra Kotoka Airport, will mark the debut of the extended-stay brand in the country. Projected to open in 2023, the 12-story hotel will have 160 suites with separate living, working and sleeping zones, all equipped with fully functional kitchens. Other facilities in the hotel will include three food and beverage outlets, including a rooftop bar, a health and leisure club and a boardroom. 

Dubai-Based Aleph Hospitality Signs Deal with Marriott International to Manage the First Four Points by Sheraton in Liberia

Pioneering Dubai-based hospitality management company, Aleph Hospitality, today announced the signing of a franchise agreement with Marriott International for the first Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Liberia. Located in the capital city, Monrovia, the hotel is due to become the first internationally branded hotel in the country upon opening in 2020 and will be managed by Aleph Hospitality under the Four Points by Sheraton brand.

BON Hotels trailblazes into DRC

South African-based hotel management company, BON Hotels have extended their African presence with the addition of BON Hotel Karibu Kolwezi, situated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to their portfolio. The 55-roomed hotel, which is scheduled to open in April next year, will be the first of its kind for the Lualaba Province of the DRC.

Protea Hotels By Marriott To Open Its Second Hotel In Ghana, First In The Capital City Of Accra

Protea Hotels (www.ProteaHotels.com) by Marriott, part of Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) (www.Marriott.com), announced the signing of Protea Hotel by Marriott Accra, Kotoka Airport, the brand's second hotel in Ghana and the first Protea Hotel by Marriott in the capital city of Accra. Owned by Baobab Hotels & Resorts which is a subsidiary of the YAMUSAH Group, the hotel will be strategically located in the prestigious airport residential area of Accra. A mere 1.5 kilometers from the Kotoka International Airport, the hotel is also in close proximity to key diplomatic, government and commercial nodes.

Rotana to Debut in Zambia

Further strengthening its presence in the African market, Rotana, one of the leading hotel management companies in the region with hotels across the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, has signed a hotel management agreement with Grandview Hotels and Resorts Limited to manage a new five-star hotel in the Republic of Zambia that is scheduled to be opened by 2021.

The new-build Radisson Blu Hotel, Niamey will open in 2019. Later this year, Marriott International will debut the AC by Marriott brand into Africa with the opening of the 188-room AC by Marriott Cape Town, Waterfront, conveniently located just minutes away from the buzzing Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and just a 25-minute drive from Cape Town International Airport. The company has also signed its second AC by Marriott hotel in Africa, AC by Marriott Umhlanga Ridge, Kwazulu Natal, Durban. The 205-room hotel will be a part of a mixed-use development comprised of offices and high-end residential apartments and boasts dramatic views of the Indian Ocean. Slated to open in 2023, the hotel is within easy access from major highways and in close proximity to the King Shaka International Airport.
