Rethinking Hotel Loyalty Programs in the Post-COVID World

Loyalty programs are not new in the airline and hotel industries, dating back to early 1980s when American Airlines introduced AAdvantage, one of the world’s first travel loyalty programs. Hotel chains quickly jumped on board, with Holiday Inn and Marriott being credited with the first hotel loyalty programs in 1983. Since then, loyalty programs have not only been an effective marketing tool for increasing customer loyalty, but also for increasing repeat customers and revenue for hotels.

HVS Monday Musings: Lonavala: a Thriving Leisure Destination in Maharashtra

Lonavala, popularly known as the “city of caves” or the “jewel of Sahyadri” is a small town located more than 2,000 feet above sea level in the Sahyadri range in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is one of the most visited hill stations in the country due to its tropical climate and pleasant weather all year round, as well as its strategic location 60-80 kilometers from key metropolitan cities in the state such as Mumbai and Pune. Moreover, the town is surrounded by dense forests, magnificent waterfalls, tranquil lakes, green valleys boasting spectacular views, caves, and forts, which have made Lonavala a sought-after destination for camping, trekking, sight-seeing, bird watching, and adventure sports.

The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same

It was mid-2020 and my team and I had only months earlier celebrated the grand opening of our beachfront resort Meliá Koh Samui. At the property's January 10, 2020 debut, just before the onset of the global pandemic, we were bristling with excitement, as usually the first two years after an opening make for the gift that keeps on giving.

Caravan Tourism in India – Discovering the Roads Less Travelled

Caravan or travel trailer tourism has long been a popular niche segment within experiential tourism around the world, but its appeal has surged in the post-pandemic era. Vacations at motorable destinations and caravan tourism have grown in popularity since restrictions were eased and people began to travel again as it offers people affordability, flexibility, and freedom, as well as safety, privacy, and the possibility to completely isolate oneself, all of which have become important considerations for travelers in the COVID-world.Caravan tourism is already well-established in countries like the US, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of North America and Europe and has been one of the quickest to recover after the pandemic. Caravan holidays, for instance, contribute GBP 9.3 billion to the British economy every year, employing over 130,000 people. Meanwhile, a recent study shows that the leisure vehicle tourism market contributed around EUR 14 billion to the German economy over the last two years, with overnight stays increasing by 50% to over 10 million in 2020. Similarly, Australia’s camping and caravan industry which employed 53,000 people and generated 12 million trips pre-COVID, has been bouncing back faster compared to other travel segments, with one in three Australians undertaking a caravan or camping trip in the first quarter of 2021.

Understanding the Unconventional World of Hotel Distribution in China

With the global pandemic, inbound tourism to China has slowed to a halt, but as we look ahead to the inevitable post-pandemic travel boom, the nation of 1.4 billion people is certain to reopen and welcome visitors from around the world. The general consensus today is that the earliest reopening will be Q4 2022. Yet, what will that look like? How will things be different and how will they remain the same? To understand the future of hotel distribution in China, we need to look at the past. Anson Lau, Managing Director of Shiji Distribution Solutions shares that history with us below. HVS Monday Musings: Tourism Revival in Kashmir, the Paradise on Earth

Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), popularly known as the Paradise on Earth, is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and scenic splendor. From pristine valleys, beautiful lakes, gardens, snow-capped mountains, and glaciers to famous religious places, temples, and monasteries – the union territories have something to cater to every tourist. The region’s distinctiveness rests in the fact that each season has its own allure. It's no surprise, then, that since the region's lockdown was lifted, Jammu & Kashmir has seen a significant increase in tourist traffic and is slowly reclaiming its position as one of the country's most popular tourist attractions. Reports indicate that over 6 lakh tourists visited J&K in 2021, surpassing all previous records, with half of them arriving in October to December as early snowfall drew a huge number of visitors to the region. As a result, hotel occupancy has been at an all-time high, with certain resorts in Pahalgam and Gulmarg being sold out at the end of the year.

No. The question bundles several things under "Google search marketing." Ads, Hotel Ads, Business Profile and YouTube sit alongside organic, and zero-click only erodes one slice of that, informational organic clicks.Booking intent is transactional and local, the query types least touched by AI Overviews: under 10% of commercial searches trigger one.
