Kempinski Career Day 2012 | Kempinski's General Managers meet young talents to lobby for careers in the hospitality business

Where should the journey take you? To China? The United Arab Emirates or Thailand? To Djibouti, Accra or Mongolia? On the second Kempinski Career Day at the Kempinski Hotel Airport Munich, a chance is given to approximately 1,000 ambitious and talented hotel management school graduates, highly motivated young professionals as well as enthusiastic newcomers to kick-start their career in the luxury hospitality business. On March 10, 2012, Kempinski Hotels' Management Board, Top Management and over 60 General Managers will be present to give detailed insight on one of the most dynamic and people-orientated industries there is. In 'speed dating' style, candidates will get to know the hotels' General Managers and with some luck and finesse this could be the beginning of an exciting future with Europe's oldest and most established luxury hotel group. Various presentations throughout the day will give participants the opportunity to learn more about the company as well as the working conditions in the regions Kempinski hotels can be found.

The International School of Law and Business in Vilnius, Lithuania is the country's leading provider of professional bachelor's degrees in hospitality, with about 800 students in the program and strong links with the industry. Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne launched the London-Lausanne Society

Based on the success of the newly created Paris-Lausanne Society last year in Paris, Prof. Michel Rochat, Director General at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, has signed the Foundation Chart of the London-Lausanne Society together with His Excellency, Mr. Anton Thalmann, Swiss Ambassador to UK, on the 15 September 2011 at the Swiss Embassy in London. The London-Lausanne Society shall be a platform to promote new partnerships and collaborations between different key stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, the industry to Universities and Business School together with the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne.

A new academic year of international scope and excellence at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL)

The Bachelor and Diploma academic study programs of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) re-opened on Tuesday 20 September. The Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management programme has 61 new students and offers a curriculum based on entrepreneurship and close to market reality. The Bachelor programme has 386 new students and educates the future executives of the hospitality sector. Given its determination to train the future leaders of the hospitality sector future, EHL rigorously selects its students and constantly adjusts the content of its programmes in line with new technologies and market trends.

Travelodge UK launches apprentice scheme as part of strategic growth strategy

The budget hotel chain yesterday commenced the programme with 33 apprentices. The scheme titled JuMP (Junior Management Programme) is a fast track route into management and provides A-level students (18+) with a real alternative to going to university. On this programme school leavers can continue their education, obtain work experience, receive a salary and become a manager by the age of 21. JuMP has been developed to support Travelodge's aggressive growth strategy. In addition, to supporting the Government's appeal for British companies to generate more high value apprenticeship placements.

France's Accor Its Replaces CEO | wsj.com

The board of French hotels company Accor SA said Wednesday it is replacing its Chief Executive, Gilles Pelisson with Denis Hennequin, CEO of McDonald's Corp. in Europe. Mr. Pelisson, who oversaw the company's split from its vouchers business, spent five years at the helm of Accor, the company behind the Motel6 budget chain in the U.S., Sofitel luxury hotels and the Novotel brand. During his stint as CEO, Mr. Pelisson restructured the company, selling off noncore assets and hotels properties, replacing them with long-term leases, and separating the highly cash-generative vouchers business into a separately listed company, Edenred.

On 4 June 2010, Ruud J. Reuland, the departing Director of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), passed on the torch to Michel Rochat, the former General Director of Higher Education for the Canton of Vaud. After eight years spent at the helm of EHL, Ruud J. Reuland is leaving the School and hopes to take a few weeks of sabbatical leave to be spent with his family before becoming involved with new projects and challenges. Michel Rochat is looking forward to taking over the reins of the oldest hotel school and reinforcing its position of leadership on an international level.

Between 2003 and 2008 Mr. Rochat was at the head of the University of Applied Sciences Vaud, covering six specialised universities of applied sciences in the Canton, including the School of Business and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD) and the University of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL), and has shown proof of superior management capacities and a strong strategic vision.
