Marshall Hotels & Resorts Adds New Build Hotel Projects, One Spa and Two Additional Management Contracts During Second Half 2016

Marshall Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel management and services company that operates properties nationwide, today announced that the company has enjoyed a record 2016, signing six new build hotels and a stand-alone spa to its construction pipeline, as well as adding two new management contracts, in the second half of the year alone. The hotels are scheduled to come on-line following construction completion, bringing the company's portfolio to 60 hotel contracts year-to-date.

Miraval Group to Develop its First Destination Wellness Resort in Texas

Miraval Group today announced it has acquired the 220-acre Travaasa Austin Resort in the Hill Country of Texas, which it will redevelop and expand into a 120-room destination wellness resort, its first in Texas and the South. The purchase, from a wholly owned subsidiary of Amstar Group LLC, closed today following the approval of Miraval's development plans. The project is expected to be completed by January 2019.

U.S. Hotel Spas - A Great Source of Revenue

In 2015, hotel spa department revenue grew at a faster pace compared to other sources of hotel revenue. According to the recently released 2016 edition of Trends® in the Hotel Spa Industry, U.S. hotel spa departments were able to increase their revenue by 5.6 percent from 2014 to 2015. This compares favorably to a 3.3 percent rise in rooms revenue for the properties in the survey sample, and a 5.5 percent increase in total hotel revenue. This is the first time since the 2007 edition of the publication that spa revenue growth surpassed rooms revenue growth.

Hotel Spas: Doing Well by Doing Good - PKF Trends® in the Hotel Spa Industry

As more travelers emphasize personal wellness while on the road, hotels are benefiting from increases in revenues and profits. According to the recently released 2014 edition of Trends® in the Hotel Spa Industry, spa department revenue increased by 4.6 percent in 2013 at the properties that participated in the annual survey of U.S. hotels conducted by PKF Consulting USA, a CBRE company (PKFC). With total spa department expenses increasing by just 2.5 percent, hotel spa department profits posted a very healthy 13.9 percent increase.
