HFTP PCI Compliance Roundtable Held First Meeting in Dallas

Industry professionals - representing more than 7,500 hotels, payment processors, consultants, resorts and QSAs - recently met in Dallas, Texas to discuss data security and PCI compliance at the HFTP PCI Compliance Roundtable. Hosted by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) and chaired by Jeremy Rock, CHTP, president of RockIT Group, the meeting was the first of its kind to attempt to bring together all segments of the hospitality industry to enhance data security and discuss potential resolutions to the ongoing issue of PCI compliance.

NBTA Commends American Airlines and Sabre For Agreeing To Suspend Litigation

The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the voice of the business travel industry, today commented on American Airlines and Sabre's announcement to suspend current litigation regarding the terms of their airfare distribution agreement, set to expire in September 2011, while work is done to reach a new agreement. American Airlines and Sabre have agreed to operate as they had been prior to when the conflict began.

HFTP-U Kicks Off With Free SharePoint Seminars Across the U.S.

After recently launching HFTP University (HFTP-U), the program is kicking off its educational opportunities with Technology Knowledge Share seminars focusing on Microsoft SharePoint. HITEC Executive Vendor Advisory Council Formed

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals' (HFTP®) Vice President Tom Smith, CFO of the Westmoor Country Club, announced today the formation of a HITEC Executive Vendor Advisory Council. The council consists of members who were chosen through a lottery of executive vendors whose companies participated in HITEC 2010. The purpose of the HITEC Executive Vendor Advisory Council is to provide input and advice into education, trends and topics for industry wide White Papers. In addition, the council will act as a strategic “brain trust” for not only assisting HFTP with marketing HITEC, but also with the HITEC Advisory Council to develop educational topics for HITEC 2011.

Nick Price to be Inducted into HFTP's International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame

Cornell Study Urges Hoteliers to Be Realistic Regarding Guest Self Service Kiosks

As more hospitality companies implement some form of IT-based self-service, many are seeking to reduce costs, increase customer satisfaction, and possibly reach new customer segments. A new hospitality study from Cornell's Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) points out that when self-service functions correctly, it does enhance guest satisfaction and improves hotels' financial results. However, when a problem occurs with the self-service computer system, guests are far less willing to return, much less pay a premium rate.
