Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced an agreement to open Sé Catedral Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection by Hilton - a unique 77-room property that will bring an exciting new guest experience to Portugal's second-largest city. The hotel is owned by Referência Arrojada SA, a subsidiary of Mercan Group of Companies, and will operate under a franchise agreement with Hilton, with the opening planned for early summer 2021. It will be Portugal's first Tapestry Collection property.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE:H) announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with First Hotel Reisen AB to open the first Hyatt property in Sweden. Hotell Reisen is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment and will be available on Hyatt's booking system on an unbranded basis as of December 1, 2020 with plans to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in early 2021. In the Nordics, the hotel will join the planned Grand Hansa Hotel in Helsinki, Finland as part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt and Hyatt Centric Reykjavík in Reykjavik, Iceland. The three hotels represent strategic cornerstones in Hyatt's expansion plans for Northern Europe.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with a wholly owned subsidiary of Intriva Capital European Principal Investment Fund I LP ("Intriva"), a European private equity fund, to see the former iconic Byblos Hotel in Mijas redeveloped into a luxury 200-bedroom resort. The property, which has been closed since 2010, will be managed by Marugal Hotel Management and will mark the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Southern Spain.

In partnership with the owner, Belmullet Hospitality Group, a USA based investor in luxury property, the hotel will now be managed by Fairmont. Located just 20 minutes from Dublin in Maynooth, County Kildare, Carton House is one of Ireland's most historic country houses. The hotel is currently undergoing a multi-million euro refurbishment to bring the property up to the globally recognised Fairmont brand standards. The refurbishment is expected to be completed by the end of 2020 when the hotel will be rebranded as Fairmont Carton House. Built as a private palazzo at the end of the 19th century, Villa Igiea later morphed into one of the most luxurious hotels in Sicily, rolling out the red carpet for Hollywood celebrities, royalty and soccer stars visiting Palermo. Previously managed by Hilton and then Accor, Villa Igiea was purchased by Rocco Forte Hotels on November 6, 2018. And now, after a full restoration, the property will launch as Villa Igiea, a Rocco Forte Hotel in June 2020. This will be the group's second hotel in Sicily after the Verdura Resort, known for its seaside spa and two championship golf courses.
