Hotel Villa Magna to Become the First Hotel in Spain to Operate Under Rosewood Hotels & Resorts

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® has been selected by RLH Properties, a company listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange and owner of Hotel Villa Magna in Madrid, Spain, to manage the iconic property following a thoughtful enhancement that will be undertaken by RLH Properties. This will be the brand's first hotel in Spain and fourth operation in Europe, where Rosewood is also expanding into other prime locations. Situated in the heart of Madrid, on the revered Paseo de la Castellana, a grand boulevard lined with renowned and architecturally impressive restaurants, shops and attractions, the beloved property will debut as Rosewood Villa Magna following a refurbishment, during which the property will remain open, that will incorporate a contemporary design, displaying an inspired interpretation of Spain's capital city. The hotel is centrally located, immediately neighboring the prestigious Serrano shopping district, and other well-known nearby landmarks such as the Golden Triangle of Art, home to the Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Reina Sofía Museums. Villa Magna is currently closed as a precautionary measure due to COVID-19 and will reopen on September 1, 2020 operating independently until Rosewood assumes management once the refurbishment works have come to an end towards late 2021.

Accor Brings Iconic Fairmont Brand To Ireland

Accor is taking over the management of the existing Carton House while it undergoes a full refurbishment to the Fairmont brandAccor, the leading augmented hospitality group, today announced that it is bringing the Fairmont brand to Ireland with the signing of the historic Carton House. In partnership with the owner, Belmullet Hospitality Group, a USA based investor in luxury property, the hotel will now be managed by Fairmont. Located just 20 minutes from Dublin in Maynooth, County Kildare, Carton House is one of Ireland's most historic country houses. The hotel is currently undergoing a multi-million euro refurbishment to bring the property up to the globally recognised Fairmont brand standards. The refurbishment is expected to be completed by the end of 2020 when the hotel will be rebranded as Fairmont Carton House. The Carton estate dates back to 1176, then part of the Maynooth estate belonging to the FitzGerald family, one of the most influential families in Irish history. The house itself was built in 1739, making it the oldest Fairmont property in a global collection famed for its grand dame hotels. Fairmont Carton House will be the first Fairmont branded hotel in Ireland and the fourth in the UK & Ireland, joining The Savoy in London, Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland and the recently announced Fairmont Windsor Park, which is also set to open by the end of 2020. With more than 80 locations around the globe, Fairmont is known for its grand and awe-inspiring properties, many of which are steeped in history and are a focal point of their local regions. Fairmont Carton House will be a leading luxury golf and spa resort in Ireland, a complementary addition to Fairmont's Golf resort portfolio, particularly Fairmont St Andrews. An expansive historic estate, Fairmont Carton House will offer 170 bedrooms and suites, two-world class 18-hole championship golf courses, exceptional wellness facilities and 1,000 sqm of conference and events space. Food and beverage offerings are extensive, comprising a lobby bar and three restaurants including The Carriage House golf club restaurant and a specialty restaurant within the Manor House.

Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower Officially Opens

Announcing Villa Igiea, A Rocco Forte Hotel

Built as a private palazzo at the end of the 19th century, Villa Igiea later morphed into one of the most luxurious hotels in Sicily, rolling out the red carpet for Hollywood celebrities, royalty and soccer stars visiting Palermo. Previously managed by Hilton and then Accor, Villa Igiea was purchased by Rocco Forte Hotels on November 6, 2018. And now, after a full restoration, the property will launch as Villa Igiea, a Rocco Forte Hotel in June 2020. This will be the group's second hotel in Sicily after the Verdura Resort, known for its seaside spa and two championship golf courses.

Now Open: Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa

AMResorts, an Apple Leisure Group (ALG) company, and Hesperia Hotels & Resorts, a Spanish hotel group, announced the debut of the second Secrets Resorts & Spas property in Europe with Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa. The resort is in Lanzarote in Spain's Canary Islands, and it opened following an $11 million renovation on December 9 close to the airport and alongside the marina of Puerto Calero.

AJ Capital Partners Acquires Macdonald Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews, Scotland

Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners announced today that it has acquired the Macdonald Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews, Scotland. The 70-key hotel will begin pre-construction design and architectural work in November 2019 and will undergo complete renovations starting spring 2020. Once completed in summer 2021, the reimagined hotel will debut with an additional 44 keys and a rooftop bar and restaurant overlooking the 18th hole of the Old Course at St Andrews and the historic Swilcan Bridge. This marks the second acquisition by AJ Capital from the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts portfolio in addition to the Randolph Hotel in Oxford, England, which upon renovation will join the Graduate Hotels® collection.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announces its first hotel in the Czech Republic

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, a world-leading luxury hotel brand within the Accor group, is pleased to announce its entry into the Czech Republic with the Golden Prague Hotel. Partnering with Fairmont on this project is R2G Heritage, owner of the property. Located along the prestigious Parizska Boulevard and on the banks of the Vltava River in the Old Town of Prague, the hotel, currently operating as the InterContinental Prague, will join the Fairmont portfolio under the name "Golden Prague Hotel managed by Fairmont" as of May 2020. The hotel is planned to undergo a comprehensive refurbishment program in 2022, and is expected to reopen in early 2023 as "Fairmont Golden Prague".

Former Hotel Allegro becomes Swissôtel Kursaal Bern

More than 20 years after opening, the Kursaal Bern enters a new chapter in its history. Kongress + Kursaal Bern AG entered into an agreement with Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts whereby, effective in autumn 2020, Hotel Allegro will then be operated as Swissôtel Kursaal Bern. As part of this exciting next chapter for the hotel, Kongress + Kursaal Bern AG will invest approximately 16 million Swiss Francs on remodeling the property's 171 guest rooms as well as the lobby space. Renovations will commence next January and are due to be completed by autumn 2020. The hotel will remain open during the refurbishment process. Once complete, guests can look forward to clever design solutions, high-quality furnishings and a carefully thought-out sustainability concept, but also to traditional Swiss hospitality in the midst of one of the country's most historic cities.
